Welcome to the yes you Can podcast, a soft place to land for fit pros and aspiring entrepreneurs looking for a motivational cheerleader who's been through it all and believes your best to life is about being brave and tapping into your magic. Hi, I'm Hannah Pratt, an online coach and vulnerability queen. I'm here ready to share my experiences through grief, life and finding my place on the podium to help you level up. So grab a latte and a notebook and get ready to be inspired through the yes you Can podcast. Hey, hey, friends, this is a quick excerpt from one of my recent webinars Five Keys to Fitness Instructor Mastery. If you want the replay, if you want to watch it, it's more than an hour of me sharing my five keys to Fitness Instructor Mastery, of course, but also Q&As like this. So there was more than 100 people registered for this webinar I think 160 or so and the questions were in the chat and I was responding to them live. So this is an example of how I teach, both on my webinars and in my program called Instructor Magic. I've had a few people reach out after doors closed this past week saying I didn't know about this, I hadn't heard about it. I'm on the waitlist now. When are doors opening again? If you're listening to this fairly recently, like it's February 9th-ish right now, if you're listening and you want to hop in, you're desperate to hop into round 10, shoot me a message on Instagram at Hannah Rose Spin. So if you are, watch the webinar and there's going to be a special little offer for you to join, so the next time we have a live cohort it won't be till the spring. So if you are listening to this and you're like dang, I missed out, now is absolutely the time to act. If not, I hope that this quick little Q&A around evoking energy and how to create community in your classes, with how you lead, how you coach, is really helpful to you as an aspiring instructor, as an instructor or as a studio owner. So usually the three people who joined my program and I've had more than 300 and almost 50 people join, which is so amazing not including podium prep. If you are an aspiring instructor and saying this is probably a little bit beyond what I am ready to do and ready to like, I'm not ready to be on the podium yet. My course is called podium prep and that is for aspiring instructors. It's literally how to get an audition how to prep for the podium, how to prepare for like your playlist, how to speak on the microphone. There's an entire manual instructor training manual in there, including what payment structures look like and all of that Everything I wish I knew before going into an audition, and that is available whenever. So, if you're wanting to join Instructor Magic, waitlist and webinar for a foe is in the show notes and podium prep is available whenever. That's it, friends. Have a great day and enjoy this little Q&A.
Speaker 1:How do you get writers to be consistently vocal, alluring, coughing, engaging oh, I love this so much. Some classes are loud and so much fun. Sometimes classes need quiet. I love loud rooms so sometimes. So I've had to let this go a little bit because I do expect such a high degree of energy. Partly is because I love, like vampy, like I love when people are cheering before I say anything. I love when I say something and people are like amen, you know, like in the best way, because they think that throughout our day, every thing that we do, when we're in a corporate office, when we're meeting new people, we have to shrink ourselves, we have to put on this weird armor, we have to pretend, we have to like not play so big and shine so bright. And then you get into the room and I want to make it the space where everybody can be as colorful as they want. I want them to be the kaleidoscope that they have to pretend that they are not throughout the day, and then they walk into the room and they feel like they can shed whatever protective barrier they have. So that's what my room is about and now, because I've built that up, that's what people do and I know a lot of people use some of the strategies inside the core person. They find it.
Speaker 1:But one of the things I do is I ask for energy at the outset. It's just like when I teach a college class or when I any sort of experience you have. You have to the first impression, the first ask. You have to be committed to getting the answer you want. So if you have a foolish room, this is easier to do.
Speaker 1:Sometimes, just like you said, they're not always giving you the highest energy and it doesn't matter. Sometimes they'll have like a half full room and they're more energetic. But if it's like mostly full, I will say my cue is I said earlier, lights are off, door is closed and I say, like my name's Han and I start my ride by asking one real important question, and we only get going when it's nice and loud 9.30, how are you feeling? And they cheer Now… they're often like an overwhelming. I feel like I just got hit in the face with energy. But sometimes they're not. Sometimes they're like wow, and it's this sad little response and I know that they're doing their best, and so I pause instead of just saying, okay, that was mediocre, let's go. I pause and I'm a bit of a brat this way and I will say that was a B-minus. Now I know none of you showed up to this ride to receive a B-minus experience.
Speaker 1:So whether you had the best day of your life or you had a day you wanna forget, I want you to cheer it out. 9.30, how are you feeling? And so it acknowledges that some people might not be feeling great. And those people all of a sudden are like, okay, she gets it, and this isn't some toxic positivity, whatever it's about creating energy, and then I will use that as a point of motivation throughout the ride. So once we're through, we don't wanna get them to sit there awkwardly for forever, but I'll take the second answer usually. And then it establishes that when I'm asking for something, I mean it and just a bit of the dynamic of like okay, you showed up to be held accountable. So that's not just accountable to yourself and to the choreography, but also to the energy of the space. So I'll use that as a point of motivation throughout the ride.
Speaker 1:When I talk about why people show up, I'll also say something like that person beside you showed up, maybe needing you more than anything else in this class. They might have shown up, showed up needing a team member to simply say yes, you can, you can do this. You need to quit doubting yourself. It might have showed up to this ride needing you more than they needed me. They needed to be beside a person who was going to cheer and celebrate their wins and walk through them and be alongside them throughout the hard stuff. So, acknowledging that when I am asking for energy, when I'm asking you to cheer, when I'm asking you to gas up your neighbor, when I'm asking you to clap for our new rider, emily, who is here today, when I'm asking you to make some noise for Jane, it's not because I need you to cheer for you right now. I need that person beside you to feel seen and validated and hurt, and then they erupt.
Speaker 1:So reminding people of the purpose. It's not that you're cheering for you, they're cheering for you, it's that they're cheering for each other and in turn, they get that beautiful energy that they showed up for, that they signed up the class to receive. So it's a give and get. We get to give energy and we get to take energy too. So I hope that that was helpful, because I'm gonna use those again because actually it's been a little quiet lately, but that's.
Speaker 1:And then, when they are allowed, affirm that behavior, affirm it, affirm it, affirm it. Make them feel so special. This is like any other training exercise you want them to feel like they were the best class of your month, be like that was unbelievable. I am so proud of this room. I'm so proud of this community. I just want us to acknowledge how special this was, because we don't know if this group of humans ever gonna be exactly together the same, and this was a special day today, and that feels like a good time to end. Oh, this is. I love doing these Q and A's so much. That's it, friends.
Speaker 1:If you wanted access to the entire webinar, please hit the link in the show notes and you can see all of the magic that took place in this evening. Masterclass Reminder the next cohort starts in the spring and if you wanted to pop into round 10, there is still a little bit of time.
